Introduction To Spatial Design

Introduction

This module introduces students to the principal concepts and vocabularies of spatial design that cross the boundaries of traditional design disciplines such as architecture, interior design and landscape design . It aims to explore space and its relationship with human activities through various design tasks and projects . Studio work will emphasize on developing ideas in terms of visual thinking and model -making

PROJECT 1

Project 1 is required to introduce and identify the primary elements of form in the order of their growth from the point to a one-dimensional line, from the line to a two-dimensional plane, and from the plane to a three-dimensional volume. We are assigned to create the planes, void, volume and space.

PROJECT 2

This is an individual assignment that required us to create a model based on the design elements and principle. The 8 model is extract from the 2D shape from project 1 and we are supposed to create a hybrid model for it.

FINAL PROJECT

Form manipulation is the act of exercising and applying the understanding of design elements and design principles when designing a space. The final project is an application of skills and knowledge acquired from Project 1 and Project 2 in designing a HEAD-SPACE CUBE for the client/user from the assigned character in the movie ‘INSIDE OUT’.
