BACHELORS OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE 2021
PROJECT 2 : DAYLIGHTING
My group and I was assigned to do research and analysis on a selected building. We are separate in own research part based on the spatial experience , the passive design strategies ,the principles and details needed for these passive design strategies to perform best in the specific climate and location to achieve comfort in this that space. We analyze on the Daylighting and sustainability of this space by modelling it in Autodesk Revit.
DURATION
4 weeks
OBJECTIVE
• To identify passive design strategies for Daylighting.
• To analyze the effect of comfort factors in a person and in a space relating to Lighting. 2 | Page
• Identify architectural idea/concept, how the ambiance is created, sustainability features of this lighting system.
• To be able to criticize design of the space in terms of thermal comfort by referring to appropriate standards such as ASHRAE, MS1525 , UBBL and GBI
FINAL OUTCOME
SELF-REFLECTION
Through this assignment, I was able to learn and identify how the chosen space such as the high temperature in certain hours, ventilation issues and etc. Besides that, the whole project is focusing on how daylighting and passive design strategies can be improve in the situation of the chosen space by changing the size of the window, change the material of the roof to lower down the U-value and etc. Moreover, I also study about how natural and man-made factors can affect the thermal comfort and human comfort in a space. Through this assignment ,this had helped me in solving the common problem in most buildings and understanding the strategies to solve it. I had also understand the importance of considering natural and man-made factors before designing a building in the future. This module is more important than we expect because Architecture is not just about a fancy design but also have to be about the functionality, environmental friendly and most importantly Realistic.
